It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear wife, mother, and nonna. Maria Tuccinardi (in Gattola) left us on April 28th surrounded by her loving family.
She leaves to mourn her husband of 58 years, Francesco, her children Filippo (Vittoria) and Graziella (Lino), her cherished grandchildren Franco, Stefano, Luca and Matteo, her sisters Rosa (Luigi) and Civita and many extended family members and friends in Montreal, Italy, Venezuela and the USA.
Maria emigrated from the small coastal town of Minturno, Latina, Italy in 1964 to start a new life in Montreal with her husband. They came to Canada with very little, but they worked tirelessly to make a better life for them and their children, despite the challenges they faced as first-generation immigrants. She was unwavering in her love for her family, and cherished every moment spent with them. She loved to garden, getting together with family, and travel. She derived the greatest joy from being with, talking to, and especially preparing meals for her precious grandchildren.
A heartfelt thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Montreal General Hospital Intensive Care Unit, for their compassion and the exceptional care they provided to her during her brief stay.
In lieu of flowers, and in her memory, a donation to the Montreal General Hospital Foundation or the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence would be very much appreciated.
Every day without you will be a struggle, and we will all miss you dearly, but we are comforted knowing that you are in a better place amongst the angels, and in the trusted hands of God.
This is not a goodbye, but an arrivederci.
We love you so much.
Rest In Peace

Today my mom Michelina D’Avirro learnt that she lost her best friend. Friends since 1964.
My mom and I were devastated with the news. She and Maria would talk for hours and hours on the phone. They always had so much to say. Not one week went by where they would not talk. She always considered Maria as her very own sister. Such a wonderful soul and I too loved her . Always carrying that beautiful, welcoming smile. Maria you will truly be missed, your sudden passing left everyone in great shock. Please rest in peace, watch over your wonderful family and give them comfort during these difficult times.
Lots of love, hugs, kisses from your best friend Michelina.
Till we meet again
Do sorry to hear about her passing may god give you all strength as heaven gained anther angel
