Maria Michela Gioia Sisto

Maria Michela Gioia Sisto

May 6, 1935 - February 2, 2024

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Maria Michela Gioia Sisto on Friday, February 2, 2024 at the age of 88. Maria is reunited with her beloved husband Michele, her parents, Anna and Pietro, as well as her siblings Gildo, Liberantonio and Iolanda. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Antoinette Sisto and Almerinda Gioia.
Maria was a devoted and loving mother to sons Mike (Nicky), Dino (Johanne) and daughter Dora. Adoring Nonna to three grandchildren, Samantha, Michael (Rongying) and Alex (Amanda) and will be sadly missed by nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
Maria was born in San Massimo, Campobasso, Italy in 1935 and came to Canada when she was fifteen years old. She was a proud and dignified woman who had a passion for life and family. A true, compassionate and vibrant woman who always went out of her way to help others.
As a mother, her greatest quality was to encourage her family to make the best of everything and to face problems head on. Fearless, with a remarkable inner strength that embodied her soul.
Her family will always remember Christmases and Thursday night dinners together. All the chaos in the kitchen as Maria prepared for dinner and the wonderful feeling of having all her family together. She was so proud of her family. Her face would light up when they were all together.
Mom, we don’t know how we will cope without you. Your departure leaves a massive hole in our lives. But we will draw strength from the many things you taught us.
We will miss you tremendously, but your memory will live on, in all of us, forever.
Mamma, ti vogliamo tanto bene.
Riposa in pace.
