Ida Reda Sgro

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Ida Sgro (nee Reda) on September 25^th, 2023.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, the late Bruno Sgro. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Sam (Teresa) and Marisa (Andriy).  She was a loving nonna to Marco, Jules, Sabrina, Lucas and Gregory who were her source of infinite pride and joy.

She also leaves to mourn her many nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Italy. She was the cherished sister of ten siblings whom she outlived.

Born in Cerisano, Italy in 1927, she came to Montreal as a young woman in her early 20’s courageously seeking out a better future.  In 1956 she married our dad and for the next 62 years began her life as his devoted wife. She was selflessly dedicated to her family and, by her example, instilled in her children and grandchildren the values of kindness, compassion and empathy.  She would always be there to comfort and encourage us through life’s ups and downs.

She loved to escape the harsh winters and enjoyed spending time in Florida with dad. She was a people person who loved being surrounded by family and friends.  We have many fond memories of family gatherings around her table enjoying the wonderful meals she would prepare.

Her warm smile, generosity and sense of humor touched and left a lasting impression on everyone she met. We will always remember her as a nurturing person who cherished taking care of her family above all.

The family will receive condolences at Complexe Funéraire Loreto 4975 boul. des Grandes Prairies, Saint Leonard Friday, September 29, from 2-5 and from 7-9pm.

The funeral will take place Mont Carmel Church 7645 rue du Mans on Saturday September 30 at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to a charitable organization of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
