Federico Marra

Federico Marra

November 7, 1951 - December 30, 2022

It is with a broken heart and profound sorrow that we announce that Federico (Freddie) Marra passed away on Friday December 30th, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital.  He was only 71 years old.  Freddie suffered from several serious medical issues and in the end his heart was simply unable to keep beating for him.

He is survived by his wife Anne (Thorne) of 47 years and his brother Luigi (Julie).  He is also survived by his mother-in-law Alice and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Carol (the late Wayne) Marie (Roger) George (Emma) John, Jean Emily (Costa) Diane (Nelson) Leona (Rob) Nancy (Pierre), and sister-in-law Susan.

He also leaves behind nieces and nephews John, Vanessa, Marissa (Pierre), Albert Jr (Angie), Jessica, Elisha (Kevin), Carlo (Desi), Fanny, Tessie, Jimmy, Ashley (Zari), Sophia, Erika, Tabitha (Bryan) Kyle, Brandon, and Devin.

Numerous cousins and cousins in law, friends, and neighbors.

Predeceased by his daughter at 3 days old and his parents Giovanni Marra and Cristina Corsale, and brothers-in-law Albert and Peter and Father-in-law Harry.

Freddie held numerous jobs after graduation but worked most of his life for CN Railway retiring at 55 after 35 years of service.  Freddie was a hardworking person and an avid handyman. Whether painting a house, finishing a basement, laying hardwood flooring, ceramics, installing a deck or pavi-uni patio Freddie seemed to be able to do it all effortlessly.  Needed help trimming a tree installing a fence or planting a garden no problem, just call Freddie.  All he charged was an ice-cold beer and a plate of pasta.

Freddie had a great sense of humor and always tried to make you laugh despite the pain of his serious medical problems.  He was a stubborn man and displayed independence throughout his health issues.

Special thanks to his two nurses Sandra and Sophie of CLSC Lac St. Louis in Pointe Claire.  To the doctors, nurses and staff of Lakeshore Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital in particular the ICU for the great care given to Freddie during his many hospital stays.

Very special thanks to his family physician Dr, Magdy Zoghby who has always been there many, many times for Freddie over the years.

Freddie will be missed by his fur babies, his little dog Baci and new kitten Elliot (Kitty) that recently joined the family.

We will carry him in our hearts, and he will live on in each of us.

Only goodnight, Freddie, not goodbye, till we meet again.

  3. I’ve only gotten the pleasure to meet Freddie these last few years. As a regular of Second Cup, it was comforting to see him every time I went. Our discussions varied greatly but they had an underlying love and care of the other. I noticed his absence very quickly and asked Milad often about Freddie. I am blessed to say our last words to each other were a genuine friendly “I love you” at second cup. To the family, I send you my love and condolences. Xoxo

  4. To Anne and family,
We are profoundly sorry for your loss. Just know that Freddy is at peace and will always be keeping a watch on those he loved.
As you so perfectly say above its only goodbye, so until we meet again.
    Our sincere condolences.
Maria, Ron and of course Charlie.

  8. To our very dear friend Freddie, you will be missed dearly. We moved to RDP in the summer of 1991 and this is when it all began. You welcomed us into your humble home 🤗We will always remember you making jokes, laughing together, the late night board games, playing cards, & so much more! God how I miss those days❤. May you rest in peace Freddie🙏. You will always be in our hearts. Condolences to our sweet dear Anne and all the rest of the family.🙏
