It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our loving Mother, Assunta  Di Cunto (born in San Clemente, Galluccio, Italy, July 5, 1934).   After a long and painful struggle with cancer, she passed away peacefully, on September 13, 2018  at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Loving wife to Giuseppe Starnino with whom she shared 62 years of marriage and lived in their home in Laval, Quebec. Assunta was a thoughtful, caring and devoted mother to Rosa(Pasquale Capparelli), Mario(Astrid Andren), Pina(Orlando Mazzuca), and Robert(Linda Pecora).  Adored Nonna to Vanessa (Daniel), Stefania, Mario, Cassandra(Rajwinder), Louisia, Victoria, Philip, and Alyssa. Cherished Nonnina to Claudia, Victor, and Isabella. She will be missed dearly by her sister Caterina(D’Angelo) and her brother in Italy Domenico, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Assunta will be reunited with her deceased family, her father, Mario Di Cunto, and mother Evelina De Petrillo, and her brother Andimo Di Cunto. 

Flowers or donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.


Place of funeral

The funeral will take place on September 19, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Our Lady of Pompei church (2875 Rue Sauvé E, Montréal, QC H2B 1C6) followed by burial at Le Repos St.Francois D`Assise cemetery (6893, rue Sherbrooke Est Montréal (Québec) H1N 1C7)

  7. Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of your mom. Remember all the good times. I remember her amazing zeppole! I hadn’t had them in years. Keep her traditions alive with your little ones. May she rest in peace and take comfort in knowing that she isn’t suffering anymore.
