C’est avec une profonde tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Filippo Nudo le 9 août 2022. Né en Italie il y a 76 ans de parents Maria et Antonio. Il a grandi avec son frère Guiseppe et ses sœurs Rosa et Marie-Lina. Filippo est arrivé à Montréal à l’âge de 8 ans.
Filippo était le mari dévoué de Rita Battaglia, le père aimant de feu Philip, Tony et Mary (Luciano) et le grand-père le plus heureux et le plus fier de Philip, Victoria, Daniela et Massimo.
Filippo avait une passion pour la musique et jouait de l’accordéon avec beaucoup de talent et d’amour. Il était professeur de musique, réparateur d’instruments de musique et technicien en électronique.
Papa nous manquera beaucoup nos conversations et notre confiance profonde et le regard de joie immense sur votre visage chaque fois que vous avez vu vos petits-enfants. Maman a perdu un grand confident, compagnon et meilleur ami.
Tu vas nous manquer énormément et ton souvenir vivra toujours dans nos cœurs.

Uncle Filippo had a profound influence on my life. I am forever grateful to him for showing me the value of Art and Science at a very young age. He influenced me as a scientist and as a musician, I will always have those gifts to appreciate and remember. I wanted to tell him thank you for inspiring our family to be musical, as it brought us together where nothing else ever would have. Now, family is a distant memory, but I will always remember what value Filippo and his family (Rita, Filippo jr, Tony, Mary) brought into my life. Everyday is painted by what Filippo brought to the table, and all the appreciation of music touched us deeply, so he will live on inside of us in that way.

So beautifully said, Yes he was all those things and so much more. His brilliant mind made him master of all that he devoted his attention to . Life did not spare him great sorrows, but he was also given the greatest gifts: a family who loved and cherished him day by day.
As a teenager he would say that he wanted to be a virtuoso which he did by practising his music for long, long days, year after year. He achieved a level of musical genius that provided him open access to McGill University in the liberal arts while still in high school and teaching at the conservatory, inspiring more young people than we will know. Remember him.
From Philip’s example I learned that curiosity and dedicated effort bring excellence… And as R.W. Emerson wrote « Do your work and I shall know you. Do your work and you will reinforce yourself. »
Rest at last in peace, your spirit will always be with us as you’ve left much behind.
