In Loving Memory of Luciano Piazza
May 13, 1943 – October 20, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Luciano Piazza on October 20, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born on May 13, 1943, in Cattolica Eraclea, Sicily, Luciano was the beloved son of Liborio and Giovanna Piazza. In September 1960, Luciano arrived in Canada alongside his father Liborio and brother Calogero, with the intention of staying for just one year to see if this new country could be home. It quickly became clear that Canada would be where he would build his life, his family, and his legacy.
Through hard work, vision, and perseverance, Luciano built a remarkable career as an entrepreneur and pioneer in the construction and stone industry. Within just a few years of his arrival, he co-founded Piazza & Gentile with his cousin Vincenzo Gentile, later joined by his brother Calogero Piazza and cousin Giuseppe Gentile . Together, they helped shape an industry—founding St. Leonard Stone in 1967 with the support of Giacinto Francavilla, and later establishing Pepinière Piazza & Gentile in 1975.
Luciano’s entrepreneurial spirit knew no bounds. In 1974, he began building custom homes in Beaconsfield; in 1981, he opened Terrase L. Piazza, a restaurant that reflected his love of good food and good company. In 1994, with his brother, cousins, and Giacinto, he helped launch a new venture distributing Unistone for Permacon—another successful chapter in a life defined by integrity, innovation, and determination. Their final joint endeavor was the purchase of Blocs Mirabel, further cementing the family’s legacy in the industry.
Luciano will be remembered as a man of honor, generosity, and passion—a mentor to many young entrepreneurs, a trusted partner, and a beloved friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He lived his life with purpose, always eager to make a deal, share a story, or lend advice to anyone seeking guidance.
Luciano leaves behind his devoted partner of 44 years, Caroline Miron, and his cherished children Giovanna (Kevin), Bobby (Carolina), Carmelo (Mary), Calogero (Ida), and Isabella (Matthew). He was a proud and loving Nonno to Luca, Madison, Andrea, Emilia, Vanessa, Talessia, Massimo, Elissa, and Luciano, stepfather to Karine Miron and honorary grandfather to Julie(Yossef),Allison, and Océane all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
Luciano’s legacy of family, hard work, and integrity will live on through all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23th, at Loreto Funeral Complex from 2:00–5:00 p.m.and 7:00–9:00 p.m.
The funeral service will take place on Friday, October 24th, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in St. Leonard, followed by the burial at Le Repos St-François d’Assise Cemetery.
Rest in peace, Luciano. Your story, your strength, and your spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
