It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the passing of Emanuela Maria Mongella, who left us peacefully on the night of June 23rd, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Angelo Pepe, loving mother to Giuseppina (John), Giovanni (Marina), and Carmela (Patrick). Nonna will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Pietro (Sara), Alessandro (Melissa), Isabella (Barry), Michael, Tomas, Julian, and James.
Maria leaves us with a legacy of courage, strength and bravery anchored in a deep devotion to her family and her faith. She was universally loved in her community, a testament to her unwavering friendships and generosity to all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to honour her and gather in remembrance at Loreto Funeral Home, 4975 Boul. Des Grandes-Prairies, St-Léonard, H1R 3A5, on June 29th, 2025 from 17h -21h. Funeral mass will be held at Maria Ausiliatrice Church, 8550 Ave. Joliot-Curie, Montreal, H1E 4C3, on June 30th, 2025 at 12h.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Sarcoma Team at the MUHC, as well as the Medical Oncology and Palliative Care Teams at the Jewish General Hospital, for their kind care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Palliative Care Unit of the Jewish General Hospital.

Dear Carmella and family,
Your mother’s soul and spirit were nothing short of beautiful.
I remember her incredible independence taking the bus herself or jumping over snowbanks to drop by to see your family.
A contagious laugh and the true definition of a fighter.
We wish you condolences and thank you for allowing us to get to know her.

How I love the Pepe Family,
Pina is a good friend, through the years I have met her fun & diplomatic sons, her nice brother and sister and their family and met ” Nonna Maria ” 🕊 just twice and fell in love with her good heart and her delicious cooking !!!
I know she will be missed, but she is reuniting with the energy of her Angel, Mr Angelo.
