It is with great sorrow and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Diego Marchetta, beloved husband of Francesca Contarini Marchetta on March 18, 2026, at the age of 88.
Other than his wife he leaves to mourn his children; Lorenzo (Carmela), Joe (Patrizia), Angie (Joe) & Frank (Mary).
He will be forever missed by his sister Angela Marchetta Butera, & sisters-in-law; Francesca Aquilino and Vincenza Tortorici, his precious 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren as well as many other family members and friends
Place of funeral
The funeral mass will take place on March 26, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Maria Ausiliatrice (8550 Av. Joliot Curie, Montreal, QC H1E 4H7) followed by burial at Le Repos St.Francois D'Assise cemetery (6893 Sherbrooke E, Montreal QC H1N 1C7)

We are so very sad to hear of the sudden passing of such a wonderful man. He was my father’s 1st cousin and a great friend to him for decades. My father spoke often of him….saying how mild mannered & kind he was.
I (his daughter Maria Campisi Spangler) had a wonderful privilege of meeting him and his beautiful wife in the late 80s as I took my first trip to Canada for a family wedding. His hospitality was unmatched as I remember going to lunch at his beautiful daughter’s home and him taking us to his bar for coffee.
He became a wonderful source of comfort for me when my mother passed away tragically in a car accident last October. We would FaceTime quite a bit and he would always have the right words to say to calm my tears. I will dearly miss those conversations and pictures and videos of him and his beautiful wife dancing and having fun within their Italian community.
Many many condolences hugs and kisses to the entire family at this great loss of an outstanding man. May God be with you all in this time of sorrow and pain.
