It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved and devoted mother, Rosaria Piccione, on January 24, 2023, at the age of 98. She was predeceased by her husband, Francesco Milazzo.
One of eight children, Rosaria was born in 1924 in the small town of Rosolini, Sicily where she raised four daughters while running her own small business, “Generi Alimentari”.
In 1966, she joined her husband in Canada for a new chapter in which they welcomed a fifth daughter. When her husband passed away at the young age of 55, Rosaria became the centre that held her ever-growing family together. Known to them as “Nonna Sara,” she was extremely close to her 11 grandchildren and her home was always their home.
A true force of nature, she overcame many hardships in her life with great dignity. She was never afraid of a challenge and was always ready for a new adventure. Although we miss her more than words can say, we are grateful for her unwavering love and remain inspired by her uncommon strength.
She leaves behind her daughters, Salvina (Tony), Mary (Tony), Rosa (Franco), Gina (Tony – yes, another Tony!) and Lydia (Gianni), as well as her adoring grandchildren, Fernando, Franco, Giuseppe, Daniele, Tania, Michael, Lisa, Stephanie, David, Adriano and Eva and great-grandchildren, Alessio, Leia, Luca, Liam, Maya and Elana.
Rest in peace, mamma.
