Maria Simboli Trinchini

Maria Simboli Trinchini

September 20, 1942 - May 21, 2020

We announce with great sadness that Maria Simboli-Trinchini passed away on May 21, 2020 in Montreal after battling Lewy Body Dementia with great courage. She was 77 years young.

We wish to remember Maria for all that she has accomplished and, most importantly, for all the help she has so effortlessly given to others.

Maria came to Montreal with her family from Scanno, Italy.  Her parents, Saturnino Simboli (deceased) and Anna Fronterotta (deceased) wanted a better life for their daughters. Maria was ten years old and her sister, Lia, was fourteen.  Speaking only Italian, she quickly learned French and English.  She happily adapted to her new home and made many new friends.  Later she graduated with Honours from Holy Names High School with a secretarial degree.  She soon started to work as a secretary at Dupont in downtown Montreal and became a valued employee there.

Maria met her husband at an early age.  She literally met her Romeo; Romeo Trinchini. They fell in love and married in 1961.  They eventually moved to St.Leonard on Deslierres St. where they created an amazing life for their family.  Maria took pride in everything that she did and that included her three children; Fiorella, Anna and Marco.  She decided to stay at home with her children. Her energy as a mother, a homemaker, a friend, a neighbour and a volunteer defined who she was.  Later, once the children were all at school, she returned to work as a secretary at Laurier MacDonald High School.  There, she proved her invaluable contribution to the High School community.  She never hesitated to help the students or the teachers.  And, one always knew where they stood with Maria!  Her work ethics and efficiency were indisputable; her compassion, remarkable.

Maria is survived by her ever-loving husband, Romeo Trinchini.  She is also survived by her three children whom she was so proud of; Fiorella (John Saba), Anna (Sal Rivera) and Marco.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren whom she adored; Andria, Gabriella, Chiara, Gianluca, Max and Manny.  Also left behind are her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Lia and Trento, along with her nephews, Joe and Vince with their families.

A very special thank you to Maria’s cousin, Dalida, who has lovingly supported the Family with her continued presence and friendship.  To all the families and friends, a heartfelt thank you for all the help, kindness and support.

It is difficult to summarize a life so full of love, happiness and accomplishments in so few words.   Maria was a pillar in her family and in her community.   She touched so many lives with her words of wisdom and compassion and all with a great smile!  She loved to travel and discover new places and meet new people.  She never tired of living her life to the fullest.

It’s hard to imagine a world without Maria……

We love you and you are dearly missed by all.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 19th , 2020 at 10:00am at the Loreto Funeral Complex in St. Leonard  The burial will take place at 1:00pm at the Repos Saint-Francois D’Assise in the east end of Montreal.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Maria Simboli-Trinchini to the Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital in support of Dr. Joshua Aaron Sonnen’s research on Lewy Body Dementia.  Donations can be made online at https://www.alumni.mcgill.ca/give or by phone at (514)398-1958.

A big thank you to Dr. Madeleine Sharp and Jennifer Doran from the Neurological Institute for their continued kindness and professionalism.

Due to the COVID Pandemic situation, we cannot receive everyone at the funeral service or the cemetery.  We will, however, organize a mass and a gathering when the situation allows for it.  At that time, Maria’s life will be honoured and celebrated as it should be.   Everyone will be given the opportunity to bid farewell to a great woman!

Thank you

Beautiful, gracious and just loved her smile!🙏🙏🙏

  4. Naturally, I have amazing memories of our families picnicking, bbq-ing and playing bocce together in Plattsburgh, of Christmas’ or NYEve’s at my aunt Silvana’s, of the countless gatherings throughout our years with our families.

All great memories of my childhood with you guys. I particularly remember playing a card game (was it called Wall Street? or stock exchange?). Anna, I had brought that up at my mom’s funeral and we laughed about it.

Losing a parent leaves a big hole in your heart, and a mother in particular. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t wish she were here…I miss mine deeply…..Remember…..She will never leave you.

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still missed, still very dear.”

Condolences to your whole family starting with your dad Romeo, and your siblings and spouses: Fiorella, John, Anna, Sal, Marco, and all your respective kids…..Lia, Trento, Joe and Vince and all their kids….and her bowling buddies, in particular my aunt Silvana and uncle Gianna and Dalida and Pietro,

May she rest in peace ❤️

  10. I cannot express the sadness I feel for your loss. I can still hear her laughter, I can still see her smile. Her energy and kindness will never be forgotten.
A story to share: I remember when I bought my dining room table and we couldn’t find a tablecloth to fit…just like that, she made me 2. For the past 20 years, every time I took out those tablecloths, I always say “thank goodness Maria made us these!” . They are a symbol of her kindness and thoughtfulness. It was what she was about- always thinking about others and ready to help.
She will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace. 🌹
