Luigia Pistone D’Orsa

Luigia Pistone D’Orsa

November 1, 1939 - September 16, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Luigia Pistone D’Orsa, at the age of 81 years old. She left us peacefully on Thursday, September 16th, 2021, with the love and care of her family surrounding at her bedside.

She was born on November 1st, 1939 in Sicily and moved to Belgium at the age of 13, where she met her husband of 64 years, Gerlando D’Orsa. Based off a love that never faltered, the two built a memorable life together in Montreal, Canada.

Luigia, also known to many as Gina, was recognized as a woman with much strength and resilience; a high spirited, altruistic soul who held family in the highest regard. She was most pleased when her family was together, when laughter was abundant and above of all, when the people she loved were happy. Everything united in her being: a sanguinely contagious personality, a smile that could light up the darkest of rooms, and a heart warm and welcoming like the summer sun.

She will forever be missed by her loving husband Gerlando and three children: Frank (late Caterina), Carmelina (late Alfredo), and Anna Maria (Saad), as well as her beloved grandchildren: Jonathan, Melanie, Amanda, Sofia, Alexander, Dany, David, and Veronica, and great-grandchildren: Matteo, Siena, Matthew and Christian.  She also leaves to mourn her sisters, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

In Lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.

You may also plant a tree in Canada as a living memorial for Luigia, through A Living Tribute. https://www.alivingtribute.ca/
