It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Giuseppe Filato. Following a courageous 7-year battle with oesophageal cancer, he passed away peacefully on April 3rd surrounded by his loving family. He is mourned by his wife Franca Polifroni, sons Michael (Francesca Pagnotta), Peter & Pasquale (Nathalie Béland), and grandchildren Giulia, Vittoria, Joey & Giuliano. He was also loved by his brothers the late Michele, Peter, sister Carmela, as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He could not have fought this valiant battle without his undying faith, spirited perseverance and the tireless efforts of Dr. Lorenzo Ferri and the entire Montreal General Hospital staff. He had hoped to find a cure for this disease that had taken so much from him and in light of this, a donation may be made to Dr. Ferri’s thoracic surgery fund at the Montreal General Hospital.

It is with great sadness that I have just heard the passing of Giuseppe Filato. I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the Filato and Polifroni families. Giuseppe was a fine outstanding gentleman and neighbour. He truly will be missed.
