Antonina Borsellino Argento

Antonina Borsellino Argento

December 11, 1946 - July 16, 2020

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Antonina Borsellino on July 16th, 2020 – beloved wife of Vito Argento, devoted mother to her three sons Joseph, John and Dominic and their respective spouses Vanda D’Alessandro, Jaco Pieper and Franca Ferrara, and adoring grandmother to her four granddaughters Alexa, Myah, Kayla and Erika.

Antonina will be fondly remembered by her sisters Teresa Mormina, Giuseppina Borsellino and Grazia Fuizzotto, as well as her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and her many loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and everyone else who knew and loved her.

Antonina was a remarkable woman. She made an indelible impression on everyone who was fortunate enough to be part of her life. She proudly upheld the cultural and family traditions that were so important to her, but she also had a very modern and open-minded view of life and the world. She was never one to judge, and often played peacemaker and a voice of reason to many in times of need. She often thought more of others than she did for herself and will be most remembered for her generosity, kindness and her witty sense of humour.

We are deeply pained by the loss of our family’s matriarch – a strong pillar to the many family and friends who looked to her for support and friendship. Her battle with cancer was one she fought fiercely and with courage. She demonstrated incredible strength and calm throughout the most difficult times in her fight to live, and never lost the spirit we all knew and loved. We are relieved her suffering is over but feel cheated by having lost her too soon.

She will be missed immensely, and her absence will leave a large hole in our hearts, but she will live on through the countless memories and good times we will cherish. We will celebrate her life as she would have wanted us to.

Visitations at Complexe Loreto will take place on Tuesday, July 21st, 2020 from 10:00-13:00 with attendance limited to close family and friends. A brief funeral mass will also be held on the same date at 13:30 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Saint-Leonard with attendance similarly limited to close family and friends. Please do not send flowers.

In honour of Antonina Borsellino, a memorial fund has been set up by her husband and children to benefit the ADOLESCENT AND YOUNG ADULT ONCOLOGY PROGRAM, at the Jewish General Hospital of Montreal. Please consider donating via https://my.crowdchange.co/7ckby0
